Again pushed from the start and having to come from behind, Jin Sawada was able to secure the TQ spot for this afternoon’s single 8-minute A-main. Dropping to 2nd in the early part of the run, Sawada got his head down and pulled back the necessary time to go to the top of timing sheets where he stayed to the end. Following a big crash on the last lap Yugo Nagashima would eventually drop down to 4th for the round but he will still start in 2nd in the final. Sawada was on new tires for the last heat and apart from adding more glue to the sidewalls doesn’t plan to make any changes for the final.
Yugo explained his last-lap crash as just hitting the curb coming out of the double apex right-hander off the straight and rolling into the track divider. Asked about his chances in the final, he said his plan is to just wait for a mistake from Jin, as passing on this track is quite tricky.
Gary Huang put in his best run of the day in Q4 to take 2nd for the round and secure the 3rd starting spot in front of Stick King who once again got 3rd in Q4 and will start the final from position 4, with Marco Ma completing the top 5 with his Xray
